5 of the best jobseeker apps

These days, everyone seems to have a smart phone. With prices falling, and hundreds of new models becoming available each year, the mobile technology market is booming. And now, the previously popular phrase ‘there’s an app for that’ has been replaced with ‘there’s hundreds of apps for that’. The app market is becoming increasingly saturated, and with it, jobseekers looking for apps to assist them with their job search are becoming increasingly less aware of which apps to download and which to avoid, because there is literally too many apps to choose from.

With this in mind, we’ve produced the following write-up reviewing what we believe to be the best apps for jobseekers.

POCKET RESUME (£2.00)

Pocket Resume is a CV building app which allows you to impress with neat formatting and attractive design, letting you edit your CV on the move via your phone or tablet. The app is fantastic if you don’t have expensive subscriptions to desktop software such as Adobe photoshop – which people use to make more attractive resumes.

Whilst the current price for Pocket Resume is £2.00, this cost is minimal compared to that of any word processing tools like Microsoft word or Pages by Apple.

Pocket Resume is available on all iOS, Android, and Blackberry platforms.

HIREADROID (FREE)

HireADroid is potentially the best job searching app that we’ve come across. Crawling some of the largest job board websites and applications, HireADroid indexes hundreds of thousands of new jobs every day.

What’s better, you can save your favourite searches and setup notifications as to when new jobs that you are interested in become available, allowing you to get your application in before your competition.

INTERVIEW PREP QUESTIONS (FREE)

The internet has a whole wealth of interview questions spread across it, however, Interview Prep Questions, available on iOS and Android platforms, aims to unite them all into one app. Available for free, it is an excellent tool for you to use when you’re out and about, or on your way to your job interview.

BEKNOWN BY MONSTER (FREE)

BeKnown by Monster is a really powerful app that mines any job opportunities that become available through Facebook. With thousands of employers and recruiters in the UK now using Facebook as a recruiting resource, the app is fantastic if you are looking for jobs at companies that you know use Facebook.

The app also utilises your own Facebook network indicating if there are any jobs going within your friends places of work, giving you one foot in the door. What’s more, the app is free.

REALTWEETS JOB NETWORKING (FREE)

Likewise to Facebook, employers and recruiters are beginning to take witter more seriously when it comes to their recruitment drives. AS a result, far more job vacancies are being published to Twitter, with employers able to give a brief overview of each job using the 140 character limit that Twitter imposes.

The RealTweet Job Networking app is the best app that we’ve come across to help you manage your job opportunities via Twitter, sending you opportunities within seconds of being tweeted. And again, you can download this app for free!
