Three Peaks Challenge: Scaling new heights for Mind

Our team of ‘Peaky Minders’ battled through wind, rain and treacherous conditions to successfully complete the Three Peaks in 24 hours. The challenge raised £5,271 for Mind, with donations still coming in, after the charity was voted for by MCG employees to be our Charity of the Year.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon). The team took on a total walking distance of 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent of 3064 metres (10,052ft) - twice the ascent of the Yorkshire Three Peaks, over a similar total walking distance.

Senior Consultant Dan Moss from our Construction business MCG Construction said: “We’ve all had such a tough 18 months in and out of lockdown. I wanted to organise a challenge with my colleagues to get us out in the fresh air, build our team spirit and raise awareness for the mental health support that’s available through Mind.

“We’ve been blown away by the support and generosity of the donations. A big thank you to those who have donated plus our incredible support drivers Mike McGivern and Adam Leeder who took on almost as much as a challenge as the walkers driving us over 1,200 miles each! And, of course, a huge thank you to the ‘Peaky Minders’ team, I couldn’t have done it without your support and on going team spirit!”

Well done to the ‘Peaky Minders’ team: Andrew Robertson, Brian McBrearty, Chris Hall, Colette Caldwell, Dan Moss, Dan Ruscoe, Kelly Ross, Lukasz Kondratowicz, Marcus Higginbottom, Niamh Mulchrone, Michael Taylor, Nigel Wharton and Orien Mojdeh.

Mind is a fantastic charity that offers support and advice to those experiencing mental health issues. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health. For more information on the great work they do visit their website.
